FIDH has participated actively in World Social Forums since their creation in 2001. Through these meetings, FIDH tries to encourage social movements to adopt a human rights aproach. FIDH was the first international Human Rights NGO to become a member in 2001 of the International Council of the WSF. Since then, it has actively engaged in the process, by inviting member organisations to Porto Alegre, Mumbai, Bamako or Nairobi, and by organising events. FIDH has been particularly active on the issue of impunity and has intended to determine strategies and tools to fight against the impunity of economic actors. In 2007 in Nairobi, Economic, Social and Cultural rights were at the center of the forum.
